Q:
Where are Dumerils Boas
From?
a: Dumerils Boas are
found on Madagascar and
Reunion Island. They occur
along the western coast
and southwestern regions
of Madagascar that get small
levels of rainfall.
Q:
How large do Dumerils Boas
Get?
a: Dumerils Boas are
a medium sized snake. Adults
can be expected to grow
4 and 5 feet in length.
Q:
Are
they easy to keep in captivity?
a:
Dumerils Boas can do very
well in captivity. They
are quite easy to take care
of and do not require a
very large enclosure. They

several hide areas within
the enclosure as they are
a more secretive species.

a: In the wild Dumerils
Boas are primarily rodent

an appropriately sized pinkie

can be fed large mice or
small rats about once every
two weeks.
Q:
What items will I need to purchase
to house a snake comfortably?
a: Before purchasing
a snake from a respected
snake shop we highly recommend
reading about the species
and learning if it will
be right for you. Our Dumerils
Boa Care Guide is the perfect
start and even includes
handy plans for building
a custom professional looking
display enclosure for your
snake. Along with this information
the main items you will
need are: Information, a
suitably sized enclosure,
a water dish, suitable substrate
for the enclosure, a hiding
area within the enclosure
(that your snake can completely
fit inside), a reptile light
source, under tank heater
(if necessary), a temperature
gauge, and feeding
hemostats. A month or so
of food is also recommended
to keep on hand.
